How do i change the bitrate of an mp3 file..?

I have a whole bunch of songs in a folder and I would like to know how do I change multiple bit rates at once, for free

thanksHow do i change the bitrate of an mp3 file..?
You need to re-encode them. I recommend using the LAME encoder with the RazorLame GUI.

LAME - http://lame.bakerweb.biz/ (Official website: http://lame.sourceforge.net/index.php )

RazorLame - http://www.dors.de/razorlame/download.ph

As Terry said, increasing the bitrate will not result in a higher quality, and will just waste space. How do i change the bitrate of an mp3 file..?
Yes it can be done but why?.

If you want to reduce the bitrate to save space what will be saved will be minimal as the files are already compressed.

If you want to increase the bitrate to improve quality it will not work.

The audio information discarded to enable the small file size is gone and can't be replaced.

The files will be bigger but the same quality.

This app from Koyote Soft is free and will batch convert.
