WinXP Explorer details view has lost columns like ';dimensions'; for images - how do I restore them?
Once upon a time, if I were in a folder full of MP3s I could change to ';Details'; view and then right-click the columns and choose to include Bitrate, duration, author etc. Or for pictures I could get the dimensions. Now, for all files and all folder templates when I right click the ';More...'; option is there, but it only gives me 9 options (Name, Size, Type, Date Modified, Date Created, Date Accessed, Attributes, Status %26amp; Owner) and not the 28 expected. Where are they? Can I restore them? I had a bit of a hunt around the registry but to no avail. I haven't tried System Restore because I'm not sure exactly when they disappeared, and I don't want to roll back because I have made a number of changes recently. I have tried diff-ing two Registry exports in WinMerge, but there's been so many changes I couldn't find one that was relevant.

I converted a youtube video into wmv format and then have edited it severly using windows movie maker however I really don't like the background music...is there any way that I can change the music - it is for a school assembly I am making on body image and the background music isn't on the point. Uploading dvd to computer then burning to disk help?
I need some help with putting dvds onto my computer and burning them onto a blank disk. I have DVDfab 6 and theres so many formats i can put it on my computer to. I want great quality and i dont care about how much space it takes up because i would just delete it after i burn it. I put a dvd onto my computer as .mkv and its not the best quality and only takes up around 750mb. I can edit and change the set bitrate, set size, FPS, resolution, one or 2 passes, and im not sure what it is but it has subpicture to ';extract to idx/sub file'; or ';direct render to video';. I tried using the disk to disk option and it just left me with a bunch of files, and folders, and i had the option of dvd 5 or 9, with 9 being better quality. Am i able to burn these folders to a disk or is the option just meant for if you have 2 optical drives, and does that mean i would need to get different blank disks for dvd9? I want to know what settings i should use for the best quality that can fit on a disk. That leads to what disks i should get. I'm not sure what the difference between -r and +r is. I don't want RW disks because i wouldnt write over anything. Theres also 16x and 8x disks, and the size would depend on how big the files would be. I also need to know if windows can burn the disks or i need another program to do that. I also know you can't directly burn .mkv files (If i would do that) without somehting, but i dont know that it is. Thanks for the helpUploading dvd to computer then burning to disk help?

How to Compress a 30GB Video File for DVD Architect?
I am using DVD Architect to burn my DVD, that I made in Sony Vegas, a 2 Hour 24 Minute, 30GB Video File. I have decided to use a 8.5GB Disc and it's using 122% of the space.
I tried Optimizing DVD but beyond trying to click Fit To DVD no luck, is it possible to compress with bitrate settings changed?
Can someone please help me compress this file so I can burn this, this DVD is for a local Motorbike Rally and I need to get it done ASAP!

Is this a High Def video? if so, then I'm afraid you can't really compress it that much and keep the HD resolution. If it is standard DVD resolution, then 30 Gigs is insanely huge, how on earth did DVD Architect make it that large? Are you tweaking the settings manually? I don't have DVD Architect, but I'm sure there must be some kind of wizard or automatic setting that can get this down to a manageable size.

Need help making this audio file sound louder, with quality.?
There's this song I'm interesting in. It's not available in stores, plus there's no date on when the soundtrack will be released... I can only listen to it while i'm watching the video/cartoon it's on. Nonetheless, I was able to use a video editing software to edit the clip to exactly where the song begins and ends, and convert it into an audio file, it's in ';.MPA'; format because .MP3 wasn't available and .WAV sounded horrible. Then I was able to convert the ';.MPA'; file into MP3 using - Audacity 1.2.6. The end result is pretty good, but I feel like it's not loud enough. I've tried changing the bitrate from 128 to 320 but it still is loud. In addition, I tried doubling the tracks (placing the same audio file in a different track row) to increase the volume, but it sounds a little distorted; I gotta admit, It's louder, but still distorted... Changing the bitrate does not affect volume level..
There are two ways you can increase the volume level.
1: On the panel to the left of the track are two sliders.
The upper one controls track volume level the lower one balance.
Caution needs to be used with this - too much increase will produce distortion.
The better option.
2: Highlight the track by clicking on a blank part of the left hand panel.
Go to ';Effect / Amplify / tick ';don't allow clipping'; box. (prevents distortion).
Click hold and drag the slider to the right to increase the track volume.
If the track has loud peaks in volume the maximum volume will be adjusted to those.
If the parts between the peaks are too quiet the whole track can be compressed to even out the levels.

I've been programming a new very easy to use GUI for x264, that would be very simple for beginners.
The program is almost 1 click. All you have to do is open any video file and click convert. My program automatically figures out bitrates and resolutions. But also if the user is advanced, they can also change the bitrates, aspect ratio and resolutions manually, or maybe only change the bitrate and let the program choose how to resize the video. It also has the ability to set a target file size (such as 100 MB for youtube)
The problem is, I'm not sure what to call it. While testing, I've only been calling it ';x264 Encoder GUI'; but that's pretty boring, and I want a better name that people could easily remember.

I don't know why you are worried about the frame rate etc...
If you rip a dvd then the framrate should be detected by the program you use.
You only need to specify if the file is out of sync to throw it back into sync.
If the program you use doesn't rip in sync then it's a crap program.
I would suggest that you use dvd shrink as you don't need to change any of these settings.

Question about video quality...?
Um... I download two anime about 24 minutes and 24 seconds. The anime's are Clannad which goes around 24 episodes and La Corda d'Oro about 26 episodes. Both, when combined, gives a memory consumption about 8.5GB [one episode is about 165-170MB]. The original video resolution is 704x400 and a bitrate of 714kbps and it's in .avi format. I'm planning to reduce the file size by converting or whatever process I should do just to make the memory consumption lesser! So... guys, what should I do to make it smaller?
PS: I don't want to change the video size. Changing the bitrate and format would do but PLEASE, don't answer: ';you should lessen the bitrate.'; If you're gonna answer this, specify how much bitrate should I put like: from 714 to 700... etc.
One more thing, does changing .avi to .wmv can make it smaller? If not, what type?

MPEG will make it a much smaller file even if you keep the same screen size. Adjusting bit rate is something you have to experiment with to get the quality and file size YOU want. No one can give you an exact number. If you want to go that route, cut it down to 1/4 the current rate. If that's too much, now you know your lower limit. Go back to 1/2 the bit rate. If you had an app like Sorenson Squeeze, you could experiment with that in less than 5 minutes to figure out the proper settings.Question about video quality...?
714 is not a great bit rat anyway and if there is a lot of fast action I would want it to be higher. AVI is not a format its a container!, the important thing is the codec used to compress it. if you keep the original size and reduce the bit rate the video is going to deteriorate rapidly.
The more you try to reduce the video size the more the quality will reduce, fact of life, unless you change the picture size which you don't want to do. What do you want to do with the videos? that has a big influence on the file type.

Hey everyone, my friend is pretty good at skateboarding.. and I thought i'd suprise him by adding music to one of his videos on youtube. I figured out how to get it off of youtube into an FLV filetype, and i also have a converter, MediaCoder, which is easy to use. However, what I'm having problems with is the video playback itself. It seems nomatter what i convert the video to, it only plays the audio or the video is just a bunch of colored lines. The options are XviD, H.264, MPEG 1, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, WMV7, WMV8, WMV9 for format. Container has the following options: AVI, MP4, 3GP, 3GP2, MPEG1, MPEG 2, and Windows Media. You can also change the bitrate to whatever you like. I'm trying to convert cassettes to cd's, using a trial version of Blaze Audio. When I save the wave file to MP3 it's saved with 56kps and I'm not sure if this is right or not, most of my MP3 files are 128kbs. Following the suggestion of the help topics in the program, I downloaded LAME and saved it to Windows Media Player. Then I realized this is for playback. I also can't find it now.

How do I get audio files that I have on 60 Cds (complete Audio Bible: Old+New Testament), onto a single CD?
I know it can be done, I just don't know how! I'm not that great with computers, but if someone gave me specific info I'd be able to follow it. All in all, there are 60 CDs containing 1263 files, for a total of ~ 4.3GB. Do I use Winzip/compression to get the info all onto 1 CD? Do I change the bitrate to a lower quality, so that I can get all to fit onto the 1 CD? Please help!! It would be so much easier to continuously listen to the Word Of God as I travel, if it were just on 1 CD --too much trouble to keep changing the CDs. I know I can listen to the Bible streaming on the net on my desktop, but I want for it to be mobile/portable for when I'm on the subway/bus. An iPod is too expensive for me now. I have a small, portable Sony walkman that I can use to play the CD. Appreciate any and all ideas!! Converting songs in itunes to mp3 to change bit rate?
A lot of files- a 1000 or so- in my itunes have a bit rate of 192 and even 320. I'm content with 128. In itunes I have it set so when i import songs the bit rate is 128. So, I was going to sort my songs by bit-rate and convert all the high ones to 128, by selecting the ';convert selection to mp3.'; But when you do that, itunes keeps the original file, and i don't want to be stuck with a whole bunch of dublicates. Does anyone know a way to automatically replace the file when you convert it? And also how to convert a whole bunch of songs at one time? I wouldn't reccommend putting your songs to a lower bitrate from a higher one. The higher the bitrate the higher the quality of the song. Also itunes can only convert one song at a time. And if you look in the preferences of itunes there might be an option to delete the original file when it's done converting, if not you will have to delete the duplicates manually.Where can I buy Mylar Blankets under eye concealer

Most of the videos I put on it are working fine but there are others (of different file types) that say ';cannot play due to bitrate.';
I was just wondering how I can change this. I use the video converter on the software it came with but that does not change the bitrate. It just lets the video go on the player.
There are also some videos where the audio doesn't work? If anyone can help out with that as well that would be great.

How can I change the bitrate of my video AVI files for my Creative Labs Zen Vision: M video/mp3 player?
I just got my Creative Zen Vision: M yesterday and put a bunch of videos on it, but some of the .AVI files won't play. The error message I get is: ';Cannot play Video with this bitrate.'; First of all, I'm not really sure what a ';bitrate'; is, although I believe it has to do with the quality (in kbps) of the video which corresponds with the file size. I'm not that computer savvy as far as creating and altering digital audio and video, so any suggestions or links to software programs or forums would be greatly appreciated.
For those who have the Zen Vision: M, does the software it came with do any kind of file converting? I haven't played around with it yet, as I used Windows Media Player to sync my files to the Zen Vision.

...it only supports 楽imple Profile?encodings, which means that not even all files of the correct format will play. However, Creative does supply a converter application on the CD. I can report that it works but it檚 not quick by any means. The Creative Zen Vision :M does come with software to convert *.avi files for playing. Its found in the Creative Zen M Media Explorer under Convert Video. The software gives you options which I think also include resizing to fit your screen and what quality of picture you want (assuming bit rate)

Almost all audio editing software would do that for you. I'd suggest AVS. You can batch convert, which is great.
